An upcoming conference hosted by CHOC will explore emerging trends and future innovations in pediatric health care with an aim to stimulate and challenge attendees’ approach to care now and in coming years.
Pediatrics 2040: Trends and Innovations for the Next 25 Years, to be held Oct. 3 through 5 in Anaheim, Calif., will cover current and future pediatric trends and technological advances ranging from genomic medicine to artificial intelligence, all innovations that could revolutionize care for pediatric patients.
“Social media, medical newsfeeds and media outlets are buzzing with news about cutting-edge medical miracles, technological marvels and breakthrough scientific research,” said Dr. Anthony Chang, conference co-organizer and director of the CHOC Heart Institute. “This one-of-a-kind conference will give participants an inside look at the future of pediatrics, and find inspiration to advance their approach to care.”
Pediatrics 2040 will include roundtable discussions, abstract presentations and networking opportunities. Keynote speeches will be delivered by Dr. Daniel Kraft, a physician-scientist and inventor; Dr. Paul Wise, a professor of pediatrics, and child health and society at Stanford University; and Dr. Edward H. Shortliffe, a professor of biomedical informatics at Arizona State University.
The three-day event will focus on seven themes:
• genomic medicine
• pediatric nanomedicine
• robotics and robotic surgery
• medical devices and mobile technology
• regenerative medicine and stem cells
• innovations in health care delivery
• artificial intelligence and big data
To be held at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, the conference is designed for a range of health care professionals: pediatricians, pediatric subspecialists, nurses, leaders and executives, medical informaticists, bioengineers, researchers and entrepreneurs.
