About CHOC
Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) is committed to being a leading destination for children’s health by providing exceptional and innovative care. Affiliated with the University of California, Irvine, CHOC’s pediatric healthcare system includes two state-of-the-art hospitals and a regional network of primary and specialty care centers serving children and families in four counties. CHOC offers several clinical programs of excellence providing the highest levels of care for the most serious pediatric illnesses and injuries, physical and mental. CHOC is proud to offer four centers of medical excellence: the Heart Institute, Hyundai Cancer Institute, Neuroscience Institute and Orthopedic Institute. In addition, CHOC’s research and innovation institutes are focused on translating real patient needs into real-world treatments so every child can live the healthiest and happiest life possible.

Learn more about the CHOC Research Institute
At CHOC, we are dedicated to providing patients the very latest breakthrough treatments available. Our efforts bring hope to patients with rare conditions, or conditions not responding to traditional treatments.
Neonatology
Since the 1960s, CHOC has been a pioneer in neonatal care, establishing one of the first neonatal units in the region to meet the unique needs of premature babies. At the core of this transformative journey is the CHOC Neonatal Research Program, which integrates leading-edge research with high-quality neonatal care, establishing groundbreaking collaborations between our NICU, Small Baby Unit and specialized clinics. Learn more about the physician leaders spearheading this innovative program.
Population Health
CHOC’s population health initiative is focused on keeping healthy kids healthy by actively engaging the community and collaborating with other institutions like the Orange County Department of Education. Focus areas include promoting whole-child wellness, care coordination, and improved data exchange.
Mental Health
At CHOC, we believe pediatric mental health treatment should be fully integrated with physical health treatment. It’s not always obvious when a child is struggling emotionally, but recognizing the symptoms and seeking early and effective mental health services are important for long-term health.
