About a quarter of children snore, and 3 percent of those will have an abnormality associated with their snoring, Dr. Paul Lubinsky, CHOC associate director of the pediatric intensive care unit, tells “American Health Journal.”
The most common cause of sleep apnea is enlarged tonsils and adenoids, while obesity also has a strong correlation, says Dr. Lubinksy.

Paul Lubinsky, M.D. specializes in pediatric critical care with expertise in the treatment of respiratory failure, traumatic brain injury and cardiac intensive care. He is board certified in both pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine. Dr. Lubinsky was born in Zambia and served his internship at Groote Schuur Hospital and the Red Cross Children’s Hospital in Capetown, South Africa. In 1986, he served as chief resident at UCI Medical Center in Orange followed by a pediatric critical care fellowship at CHOC.
